Description:
Gained oil by cold pressing of the semen of the castor shrub (Ricinus communis). As a result of auto-oxidation by blowing in 100-150°C hot air the oil gets viscous, good drying and weather resistant.

Characteristic:
Blown Castor Oil is a pale yellow viscous liquid with liminal, characteristic odour. Mixable with chloroform, ethanol, ether, anhydrous acetic acid, not readily soluble in petroleum ether.

Applications:

  • plasticizer  for paint raw materials, in particular nitro cellulose
  • plasticizer for cements, fillers, sealing compounds
  • part of hydraulic liquids
  • solvent in alkyd resins to improve brilliancy, flexibility and flowability.
